GRANTS TO ELEVATE HOMES AND UTILITIESTOWN OF SCITUATE MASSACHUSETTS GRANTS TO ELEVATE HOMES AND UTILITIES APPLICATION FOR HOME ELEVATION GRANT - PDF PROPOSED GROUND MOUNTED SOLAR PV ZONING BYLAWTOWN OF SCITUATE MASSACHUSETTS PROPOSED GROUND MOUNTED SOLAR PV ZONING BYLAW A draft zoning amendment will be considered at the upcoming Special Town Meeting on November 8 which would allow large scale solar photovoltaic installations in the Commercial zoning district (please click HERE to access this bylaw.) This will meet criteria 1 and 2 of 5 required for Scituate to be designated a Green Community by the Department of Energy Resources (DOER), along with 35 other cities and towns. With this designation, the Town can apply for grants for energy savings improvements. To meet the Green Community requirements these installations must be allowed by right, with a permitting process not expected to exceed one year. Much of the language of the bylaw was proscribed by the state, but was streamlined by the Planning Board. The public hearing on this article will be October 14 at 8:30 p.m. in the Selectmen's Hearing Room. The Planning Board welcomes your comments and input. Please call the Planning Board office at 781-545-8730 with any questions or concerns. Is Your Dog on This List? updated 9/23TOWN OF SCITUATE MASSACHUSETTS IS YOUR DOG ON THIS LIST? The Town Clerk’s office is attempting to bring unlicensed dog listings up to date. We suspect that many of these dogs no longer belong on the list. As a courtesy we are issuing this list in the hope that we can decrease the number of names in our records. If your dog’s name appears on the list and the name should be removed, please give us a call at 781-545-8743. Your call would be appreciated. Under MGL and the Town of Scituate Animal Control By-Law (30400), all dogs must be licensed yearly on July 1st. The fee for Male and Female dogs is $15. Neutered and/or spayed is $10. If you have a dog you have forgotten to license, the Town Clerk’s office is open during regular business hours – including until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Alternatively you may license by mail. Simply go onto the Town’s website www.town.scituate.ma.us and download the dog licensing form. Also in accordance with the Scituate General By-Law (Section 30430.D), the fee for unlicensed dogs doubles after October 1. The list owners in violation of the by-law and subject of the increased fee as of that date will be published then. Power Restoration Protocol and InformationTOWN OF SCITUATE MASSACHUSETTS Message from the Scituate Building Commissioner: Beach Test Results from 8/31/2010 (final testing of 2010 season)
Beach Test results from samples taken 8/31/2010: 2010 Swim Season Under MDPH regulations for beaches guidelines, beach operators must test all public ocean beaches for bacteria each week, using the enterococcus indicator organism. Under that guideline beach sampling will be weekly during the swim season, June until Labor Day. Single-sample test results cannot exceed a specified number of bacteria colonies per 100/ml sample. If they do, the beach must be closed to swimming. The maximum contamination is 104 Enterococci/100 ml. for ocean waters. There are 6 beaches that we test: Humarock, Peggotty Beach, Sand Hills, Egypt Beach, Scituate Lighthouse and Minot. Maximum Contamination Level: 104 (would result in beach closing) Enterococci/cfu/100 ml Test results from samples taken 8/31/10: Minot - 86 For more information and archive of testing data: |
