Scituate COA Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
Meeting called to order at 6:08PM by Pam Davis, Chairperson
Members present: Brendan Lynch, Rocky Carrabes, Gerry Fierimonte, Joan Paley, Meg Stillman, Florence Choate,Director, and Rita Rozen taking minutes
Minutes of February meeting were read, reviewed and accepted.
STAFF REPORT
Program report. Reduction in number of attendees due to foul weather noted. Requests for volunteers will be in the April newsletter. Art Instructor Evelyn Murphy is retiring and several others. Needs will be published.
DIRECTORS REPORT
Several successful trips during the last month and more events for May are being planned. New electric lights in front and back have been installed, also exit signs. The defibrillator has been installed and the SFD will be training staff. CPR classes are scheduled for staff in April.$1,785 less than expected in the budget due to cutbacks. The Weymouth COA was visited to view their programs and newsletter. The Scituate DPW has been thanked for the wonderful job of snow removal at the center. Fundraiser scheduled March 21 at GAR Hall is proceeding well.
Transportation had a total of 473 rides,35 volunteer driver hours and 962 miles were driven in the COA vans.
OLD BUSINESS
Several eager volunteers have expressed an interest in helping at the Senior Art Show and Sale to be held May 23, 2009 at the GAR Hall.
Printouts of donations and trust funds were reviewed by Board Members.
Reassurance was given that seniors are always the first priority when scheduling at the Center. Drop ins are always welcome and that no other use of the building interferes or interrupts any other programs.
Meeting March 17, 2009 with the Public Building Comm. to interview the 3 architectural firms.
All caregivers have been informed of the meetings to be held at St. Mary's for a trial basis.
