Members present: Rocky Carrabes, Jim Harmon, Brendan Lynch, Meg Stillman, Joan Powers, Gerard Fieremonte, Rita Rozen, Pam Davis – Chairperson and Florence Choate-COA Director, Shawn Harris- Liaison Board of Selectmen

Meeting called to order at 6:03 PM.
Minutes of September reviewed and accepted.
Directors report: Florence Choate reported that the new van is in service and working well. The fall schedule is in progress with several new programs including a chorale group and Zumba exercise program. The programs will be updated weekly in the Mariner. A survey will be sent to all town residents 80 years and over to assess their needs.
Transport: A total of 417 total rides for the month.
Programs: A new walking club and new discussion group each begin this month. The yoga and cardio groups have new members. Next month a trip is planned to NH for a ride on the Turkey Train. A luncheon on Nov. 3 will be held to hear about a new program for seniors and their pets by the Scituate Animal Shelter. Trips around Scituate to see the Christmas decorations are being planned for December.
Old Business: Problems with insects at the front of the building will be addressed by Mike Breen in the spring. Also to see if enough people are interested to receive training here for Board Members.
New Business: Discussion regarding a senior Facebook program. Computer expertise will be sought for more information. Coral Grande is the new Director of Cohasset COA and has been in touch with Florence. Jim will be researching cost saving ideas and will prepare information to present to seniors. Joan explained regarding layoffs and budget cutbacks at SSES; there is a waiting list for elder assessment and services, unless urgent. Gerry reported on the Comm. of Disability meeting regarding signage, handicap parking and fines. Brendan reported that no calls have been received regarding SSA fundraising.
