Meeting was called to order at 6:05PM.
Minutes of the January meeting were approved by the board.

Staff and Director’s Reports: Florence reported that the Senior art show will be held in June at the COA building on Brook St. There is already a lot of interest and the show will be for two days. The budget was presented to the selectmen and the advisory board. There were some cuts but the staff was not affected. Several other COA’s in the state have been closed due to no available funding. Forum for 80+ seniors will be Feb 23rd to answer their questions. Invitation only. Three new programs were started, women’s bowling, men’s cards and zumba, and they are all successful. Country western dancing will start again. The St. Pat’s day lunch will be on March 16th. Reservations are needed to attend. Entertainment will be provided. Transportation: 460 total rides provided. Outreach: SCOA hosted a meeting with 6 local COA’s. Presentation was made on the new adult day health program at St. Luke’s Church and will be run by South Shore Support Services. This provides relief for caregivers and gives individuals a safe and enjoyable environment for a day. “Sustainable Scituate” will have spaces set aside for seniors who want to participate in a community organic garden at Teak Sherman park. Old Business: Jim Harmon will spend time soon with seniors on their shopping trip to Shaw’s. The coupon program is successful. People are dropping off and coming in to pick up coupons. Shopping escorts program successful. Tom Edwards will work with schools to involve students in volunteering to aide seniors. Pam has not had a response from the Rec. Department on the community center collaboration yet. New business: Florence needs volunteers to take ethics quiz if they want to work at COA. Joan Powers reported that SSES isn’t making any additional cuts to programs. Presentation was made on program to assist frail elderly to stay in their homes and out of nursing homes.
