1. Meeting called to order at 6:00 PM

2. Vote to elect officers for 2011-2012 year:
--Postponed until next month’s meeting when all members are present.

3. Vote To Accept Minutes of July, 2011 Meeting:
--Accepted unanimously by members who were present at July meeting.

4. Staff and Director Reports:

--The July 4th party (actually held on July 5th) was a success and a fun time.
However, the air conditioning failed and the room became unbearably hot
and humid. The Town Administrator advised that it might be cheaper in the long run to replace rather than repair the unit. We have sent three bids to Mr. Bangert
that range from $7K to 14K.
--The 2011 Formula Grant is just about spent down. The budget for 2012 is $27, 150. There IS one line item that needs to be reallocated.
--Summer Bingo has been pretty good but not attended well enough to earn year-round status.
--The new printer is here, waiting for installation.
--The 2nd Annual Senior Lunch at the Maritime Center was held on August 4th. It was incredibly well attended. We were more than lucky to have a beautiful, sunny day. Full house and then some!
--The Director will have the 2012 budget ready for the September meeting.
--The Art Show will be on October 6, 2011 at the Maritime Center.
--We will have a Craft Show in November at the Senior Center.
--The Director met with the Town Administrator to discuss GATRA (5B). This is federally funded ground transportation for towns that need it. Currently, 14 towns in our area have it. Frank Gay is the regional head of GATRA for our area. Mr. Gay, The Town Administrator and Florence plan to meet by mid September to discuss different service levels. This will not cost the Town a dime. Then it will go to the Selectmen for approval.

--Programming is slow during the summer due to suspensions in some of our activities and programs.
--Outreach is busier than ever. During of July there were 3 Home Visits, 19 Office Visits, 1 meeting attended, 76 calls, and 28 referrals.

--Transportation was slightly down from June. The Medical Connection no longer runs due to lack of passengers. There were a total of 600 rides, 481 of which were our local van transportation. The LINK did 115 rides and volunteer drivers covered 8. The volunteers gave 48 hours of their time driving and escorting. Our COA vans drove a total of 1319 miles in July.
--The senior trip to Boston Locks was fabulous! So many found all the information really interesting and all had FUN!

5. Old Business
A. Community Center Update: Town departments can use Pier 44 for meetings, etc. until it is otherwise used. We plan to have our SHINE presentation there and, after that, our September Board Meeting. Since nobody signed up for our Chronic Disease Management Program, which is a 6-week commitment, it too will be held at Pier 44. It will be interesting to see if we get more attendees due to a more appealing venue.

7. Reports
A. SSES Update by Joan Powers: SSES has a new website that is terrific. They have increased services by hooking up with hospitals and rehab centers. The SSES 19th Annual Picnic is on Thursday, September 8 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 Pm at Nantasket Beach in Hull. Reservations will not be taken after September 4, 2011. Please call
