TOWN OF SCITUATE MASSACHUSETTS Board of Health Meeting Minutes February 13, 2012
PRESENT: Chairman Russell Clark and members Frank Lynch and Michael Vazza and Secretary Pam Mullin. The Scituate Board of Health held a meeting on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Scituate Town Hall located at 600 CJC Highway. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. Motion by Frank Lynch to accept the agenda and meeting minutes of January 30, 2012, seconded and approved unanimously. 7:10 p.m. 4 Garfield Road/Public Hearing/Morse Engineering/Beaudry Jeff Hassett from Morse Engineering presented for the homeowner. There were no abutters present. Proposed gravity fed with four low profile chambers and the following requested local upgrades: A reduction from 10.0’ required to 6.0’ between the property line and the SAS, A reduction from 20.0’ required to 12.2’ between the cellar wall and the SAS, Allow a 22.5% reduction in the area of the SAS, Allow a reduction from 50.0’ required to 37.9’ between the wetland resource area and the SAS, Allow a reduction from 5.00’ to 4.75’ between groundwater and the bottom of the SAS. Motion by Frank Lynch to approve, seconded and approved unanimously. 7:20 p.m. Fats, Oils and Grease (F.O.G.) Rules and Regulations/Public Hearing Food Establishments Representatives from the following food establishments were present: Satuit Tavern, Scituate Country Club, Egypt Country Store and the Village Marketplace. A brief overview of the pending new F.O.G. Rules and Regulations was presented by Frank Lynch, giving an opportunity for the attendees to ask any questions or concerns before the formal adoption of the regulations. This is the last opportunity to discuss with the food establishments before board approval. A few of the questions asked were: The use of an Indoor Auto Grease Trap? Any options? Indoor passive? Why is wastewater from a dishwasher in this regulation? Are you allowing any provision(s) for a variance of waiver in this regulation? How soon will this regulation be in effect? The Health Department will schedule an additional meeting with the food establishment owners to meet with the vendors to view various product choices and options along with proper maintenance of the equipment. No vote was taken at this meeting to adopt the proposed rules and regulations. Motion by Frank Lynch to adjourn meeting at 8:15 p.m., seconded and approved unanimously.
