PRESENT: Chairman Russell Clark and member Frank Lynch, Director Jennifer Sullivan and Secretary Pam Mullin. Selectman Shawn Harris and Scituate Mariner Reporter Ruth Thompson were also present.

The Scituate Board of Health held a meeting on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Scituate Town Hall located at 600 CJC Highway. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Motion by Frank Lynch to accept the Agenda and meeting minutes of April 23, 2012.

Well Regulation Discussion (continued)

The members were given local well regulations from the Orleans Board of Health, the Cohasset Board of Health and the Marshfield Board of Health to review and assess for inclusion into our well regulations. Director will pursue more local communities for their regulations. All members to agree on the format, how much detail will be used, decide on appropriate definitions then divide into regulations into groups. This is a tedious project with registration of wells, private wells and irrigation systems and regulations needed to enact.

Other departments involved will include the Town Administrator, Conservation, DPW, Planning, and Water Departments. Water Department to advise Health Department of any water meter(s) being removed. Currently there are three homes in Scituate that have drinking wells.

Frank Lynch offered to scan these documents then flip to Word documents. He will also look into DEP cross-referencing to Title 5.

This is an on-going project expected to be discussed on a monthly basis.

New Business

A Community Assessment Planning Guide for Scituate was presented to the members prepared by Kimberley Taylor RN in partnership with the Board of Health and the University of Massachusetts, Boston campus. Explained in her assessment how she gathered the information and conducted a six-hour windshield survey of Scituate.

Motion by Frank Lynch to adjourn meeting at 7:30 p.m., seconded and approved unanimously.
