MEMBERS PRESENT: Dorothy Cook, Chairperson; Al Elliott; Mark Thompson. ALSO PRESENT: Mark Patterson, Harbormaster; Jeff Dougan and Megan Sommer, Commission on Disabilities; Al Bangert, DPW.

1. MEETING CALLED TO ORDER. Chairperson Dorothy Cook called the meeting to order at 7:15 P.M. in the Selectmen’s Meeting room of the Town Hall.

2. Mr. Elliott made a MOTION to approve the July 8, 2008 minutes as written, Mr. Thompson SECONDED the motion, all voted in favor and the motion passed unanimously.

3. Review of Correspondence: Request from Police Chief to replace Arthur Wood with Mark Thompson as SPD representative to the TRRC. Ms. Cook read a letter from Mary Brown of 44 Wampatuck Avenue requesting that Turner and Oceanside roads be made one-way during the summer. Discussion: one-way would create a lot of traffic on the side roads in the avenue. We have discussed your letter and think that it would create a hardship for residents and business owners in the area and create access issues for emergency vehicles. Ms. Cook also read a memo from the Selectmen to Mass Highway requesting a Deer Crossing sign at the north end of the bridge on Rte 3A, south of Kennedy’s.

4. Plans Submitted for Review: A) 86-87 Lighthouse Road/Flood Plain Special Permit. The TRRC reviewed these plans. It was agreed that as long as there is adequate offstreet parking there appear to be no problems.

5. OLD BUSINESS: A) Discussion: Curb Cut behind Harbormaster’s Office. Discussion was held with Mark Patterson, Jeff Dougan and Megan Sommer. Mr. Patterson said that the curb cut was his idea. The result of the discussion was that Mr. Patterson said that he would see about installing a sidewalk to replace the gravel surface with a smooth, accessible surface to provide access to the existing curb cut, and remove the curb cut behind the Harbormaster’s office.

In other old business, Ms. Cook said that she spoke with Mr. Breen about the crosswalks the TRRC requested some time ago on Hatherly Road at Turner Road. She asked that it be put on the list to be done before school starts.

6. NEW BUSINESS. It was agreed to table the agenda item to set up a workshop to continue work on revising the Traffic Schedules.

The next meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, September 9, 2008.

7. ADJOURNMENT. On a MOTION by Mr. Elliott, SECONDED by Mr. Thompson, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M.
