TRAFFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS COMMITTEE
Tuesday, December 7, 2010

MEMBERS PRESENT: Dorothy Cook, Chairperson; Al Elliott; Officer Mark Thompson, Kevin Cafferty.

1. Call to Order. Chairperson Dorothy Cook called the meeting to order at 6:08 PM in the copy/coffee room at Town Hall.

2. Acceptance of November minutes

3. New Plans Submitted For Review
A. 48 Mann Lot Road/Accessory Dwelling Special Permit. TRRC members reviewed these plans. The TRRC saw no issues with these plans and this will be sent in a memo to the Planning Board.

4. Old Business
A. Common Driveway, 253 Country Way.
B. Bus Stop Ahead sign near 189 Mann Lot Road. Officer Thompson will take care of asking about this.
C. Curb Cut application/17 Stockbridge Road. TRRC discussed and had no problems with this.
D. No Parking signage/SHS, Wampatuck School. Officer Thompson will attend a safety meeting at the schools and advise them that signage at the schools is the responsibility of the School Department. Re Fire Lane signage at the High School: Ms. Cook said that signage is needed and Mr. Cafferty said that this is the responsibility of the schools.
E. Crosswalk/Cushing School. It was agreed that Officer Thompson will ask Mr. Bangert to install a crosswalk sign on Aberdeen Drive at the junction of the driveway.

5. New Business
A. Proposed rotary/Beaver Dam-Branch-Lawson. TRRC members looked at a plan for this new traffic system and agreed that it is an interesting proposal. There was a question about how it might affect emergency response times. The configuration was discussed. The possibility of additional parking was considered. It was agreed to put this on the next agenda for additional discussion.
B. Inly School. Mrs. Cook said that the school has asked about plowing. Mr. Cafferty said that they have been advised that Watch Hill Road is a private road and the Town is not responsible for plowing it, a plow will not be assigned to the area but at the end of a storm it will be opened up by plowing for emergency access etc.
C. Next meeting: January 4, 6 PM.

6. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned by unanimous vote at 7:00 PM.
