RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Engineering
Division provides technical assistance to the
many sectors of Town Government. It involves
engineering surveys, studies and investigations;
implementation of capital improvement projects;
design and cost estimating for contracted construction
projects; contract administration; project management
for Capital, Federal and State Aid projects;
preparation of Town maps and records, and engineering
assistance to the DPW operating divisions, Town
agencies and general public. Construction management
and inspection of all contracted capital and
in-house division projects and construction inspection
of Planning Board subdivision projects is also
provided.
The Engineering
Division also offers the following information
to the public:
We can provide
copies of Assessor's (Tax) maps, Flood Plain &
Watershed Protection District map, Town of Scituate Zoning map
and Flood Insurance maps. There is a small fee (ranging from $.25 to $4.00)
for the maps according to the size of the print requested.
Street Opening
Permits for the opening (excavation), use, obstructing,
or closing of a public way are available in the
office and will be issued to contractors at no
charge. All excavation within the roadway must
be done between April 15th to November 1st.
Street Opening Permit Requirements:
Fee $125.00 per permit
$10,000 bond
Moratorium Streets Requirement:
$5,000 to open a Moratorium Street (5 Year Period)
