This department provides the following services to the veterans of Scituate and their dependents:

FEDERAL

  • Assists in applying for federal claims for:
  • Service-connected compensation
  • Nonservice-connected pension
  • Health benefits
  • Prescription Drugs
  • Survivor pensions
  • Business, education and burial benefits
  • Headstones and markers may also be obtained through this office

STATE

The office provides benefits to needy veterans and their families under Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 115.

We work with the veteran in order to overcome barriers to employment.

The office works with such agencies as DET, the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission as well as state and federal hospitals and physicians in all matters of health issues. Attention is given to veterans or widows in local nursing homes.

We flag veterans' graves on Memorial Day.

Flags and wreaths are placed at thirty two Veterans Memorials within the Town of Scituate.
